Clin Azur
Originally meant for the big yacht market, it offered a limited range of professional products only. Over time, while retaining this specialisation which was a guarantee of their mastery in yacht cleaning products.
Clin’Azur expanded into the entire nautical market, with packaging and manufacturing techniques more suited to the wider public.
The information sheets attached bring together the products in utilisation categories, making it easy to choose among the sixty or so references offered.
Cleaning of bilges and engine
The commonest form of dirt in holds are hydrocarbons: oils, diesel, greases, as well as stagnant water which sometimes carries microorganisms. These hydrocarbons are emulsified and evacuated through the use of solvent-based cleaners.
It should be noted that a biodegradable product does not make the dirt biodegradable. Discharging cleansing waters into the sea is always a source of pollution. The cleansing is rounded of with a deodorant, which destroys the microorganisms responsible for disagreeable odours.
Non anodised aluminium decks must be washed outside the craft.

The mechanic’s favorites
These are the «indispensables» for mechanics as well as for all other wise sailors. Whether for preventing serious problems are curing small ones, these products are used in small quantities, regularly. Penetrating oil, naturally, as well as electric contacts cleaners. Water-repellent to keep humidity away, or plastic-coating varnish to protect and isolate. Kneadable epoxy mastic, a genuine cold-weld product that hardens even under water, providing effi cient emergency repairs, or the micro-bead gel soap that cleanses the dirtiest hands safely.

Diesel oil treatmen
Ambient air, which gets into reservoirs, causes water condensation that carries dirt. This dirt,
in contact with both water and diesel oil, creates bacterial proliferation, which will result in a biomass deposit. This waste material can cause breakdowns by blocking up fi lters and injectors. Therefore, diesel oil on board requires that 2 types of product be used: An additive that can eliminate water from tanks and aid combustion, as well as a biocide able to destroy bacteria. In addition, a dispersant that can eliminate diesel oil spread accidentally on the sea surface is recommended. Another type of incident that can occur is the accidental fi lling of tanks with the wrong products, notably water and diesel. An alkaline detergent will enable the elimination of diesel in water.

Greases and lubricators
A ship is a complex assembly of mechanisms, some of them delicate, which are subjected to
stringent conditions. Much of this equipment requires adequate lubrication. In addition to modern,
complex molecules, such as PTFE (polytetrafl uorethelyne) or silicon oils, there are much older products that continue to interest the most experienced sailors. Each person will fi nd here
the product best suited to their needs. Packaging in propellant aerosol form, which protects the ozone layer, guarantees mastery over the product.

Scale removers, strippers …
This category brings together products with very specifi c uses: a strong-acid based scale remover for boilers and immersed elements, another scale remover with a «weak» acid base to preserve light alloys, in parallel with an additional product that prevents subsequent scale formation. An acid stripper for hulls, propellers, camshafts – for use in naval shipyards. It is an excellent rust remover.
Our paint and varnish stripper is particularly effective. Finally, our rust converter, which can be applied directly to rusted steel, and that will provide long-term anti-corrosion protection. Naturally, it can then be painted over.

Waste water treatment
When a boat is equipped with wastewater reservoirs, distinction is made between “grey” water from
the kitchens and bathrooms and “black” water from toilets. These reservoirs can cause bad smells and blocking when waste matter becomes silted up. Nowadays, biological formulas are most commonly used in eliminating waste and greasy substances. Based on non-pathogenic bacteria and
enzymes, they guarantee the total liquefaction of waste matter. Conventional chemical products are reserved as additional disinfecting agents where required. Bio products, in order to be effective, must be used in exactly the right doses, at the right intervals, and for the right length of
time. Never mix conventional chemical products with bio products in the same tank, as this can render the bio product useless.

Hulls/superstructures cleaning
This family of products is aimed at the most obvious and important surfaces to be cleaned on a ship: the hull, of course, but also the superstructures, the bridges if they are not made of teak, the windows and portholes, in other words everything that is most visible. Although modern coatings are very rugged – paint, gelcoats etc – very aggressive detergents should not be used (they have labels with a black logo on an orange background). Over time they can dull the bright finish on paintwork.
Certain products may seem similar because of their purpose, but we think it necessary to continue offering a wide choice in order to offer a wide range of prices.

Specific use cleansers
Specific use cleansers are used for very specific applications. As often happens when it comes to cleaning and care, one has to find the right compromise between removing the dirt and treating the cleaned surface with care. A good cleanser does not damage the surfaces it cleans, neither does it leave them sticky. The same applies to inflatable equipment. In the case of the sails, the special cleaner will restore their bright colours. In the event of rust traces, one of our specially adapted rust run products will be required.
New : Our anodised aluminium cleaner will renew aluminium in complete safety.

Caring for Teak
On many boats, the bridges are covered in teak and other exotic woods. Teak is a rugged wood that offers particularly good weather-resistant qualities. In order to preserve its original look, it should be cleaned with an alkaline detergent, which will also take care of any soot or diesel stains etc.. Then a restorative agent is applied. This is a phosphoric base acid product that usually restores the teak’s original amber shine. This is finished off with a “teak oil”, in fact a sealing agent, which brings up the shine of the wood slightly, and seals out salt and other impurities. Oxalic acid is reserved for very light-coloured bridges.

Polishes and surface restorers
Polishes always contain abrasives. That’s because, in order to shine a dulled surface, a very thin coating of paint or gel coat that has been dulled by weather and time must be removed. The difference 2 products lies entirely in the type of abrasive agent that is used, and the solvents and detergents that are designed to soften the surface in order to remove a thin layer. The shiny look comes from the apparently intact remaining surface layer of paint, as well as such molecules as silicon, or better still, PTFE. In the case of metals, the goal is “rub out” the micro-scratches, and remove the oxidation.

Cabin cleaning and care
Cabins, just like the other rooms on a boat, are taken care of in the same way as rooms in a house. Thus, in most cases, conventional domestic cleaning products are quite suitable. However, in the case of certain specific tasks, it is better to use specially formulated products. In order to eliminate smells, for example, or for the cleaning and care of leather, of carpets and fitted carpets, and also to put a shine on control surfaces.
